The EU has changed the rules of temporary protection for Ukrainians: what is known

The Council of the European Union officially extended the temporary protection regime for citizens of Ukraine until March 4, 2028. At the same time, the EU introduced a new requirement for some Ukrainians who will apply for this status.

This was reported by the press service of the Council of the EU, writes “European Truth”.

From now on, Ukrainian citizens subject to military service who apply for temporary protection in EU countries for the first time must confirm that they have no violations of their military registration.

To do this, you must provide documents that certify legal departure from Ukraine or confirm the right not to be subject to mobilization or fulfill the requirements of Ukrainian legislation regarding military duty. This may include, in particular, a stamp on the legal crossing of the state border or relevant paper or electronic documents.

At the same time, the new rules do not apply to Ukrainians who have already received temporary protection status in the European Union. The changes apply only to those who will apply for it for the first time after the new decision comes into force.
