The European Union plans to adopt the most sweeping package of sanctions against Russia since the war began in the fall. According to Kai Kallas, the new restrictions could increase the number of Russian entities under sanctions by a third.

This is reported by Reuters .

Kallas stated that the current EU sanctions have already caused significant damage to the Russian military machine.

“EU sanctions have already cost Russia dearly, depriving the Russian military machine of over €1 trillion, and this fall I am putting forward the most extensive sanctions package since the start of the war,” she said.

According to the head of the EU foreign policy department, the new package will increase the total number of Russian entities under sanctions by a third.

“The pressure must continue to increase until Moscow ends its war,” Kallas stressed.

At the same time, she did not provide details of the new package and the timing of its adoption.

Recall that on August 7, the European Union approved new sanctions against Russia in response to the intensification of strikes on Ukraine.

By the way, the Council of the European Union has imposed sanctions against 1 individual and 5 legal entities associated with the Russian military-industrial complex. The restrictions are related to the massive strikes on Kyiv on the night of July 1 and 5 , which led to casualties and the destruction of civilian infrastructure.
