European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that the EU will allocate 200 million euros, which will be directed to child nutrition in Ukrainian schools.
She said this at a meeting of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children on the margins of the UN General Assembly, Ukrinform reports .
“We will not rest until the (kidnapped by Russia – ed.) children of Ukraine return home, but I know that the domestic needs are also enormous. That is why today I am pleased to announce that we are ready to allocate around 200 million euros to provide school meals. You have told me how important this is, and I am happy to support it,” von der Leyen assured.
According to her, the European Union is also funding the work of Ukrainian prosecutors, “so that families can see that justice will prevail.”
In addition, the EU, together with UNICEF, is allocating 10 million euros for the rehabilitation and education of children abducted by Russia and returned to Ukraine.
“So that after the children return, they are not only welcomed, but also helped to rehabilitate, study, and, of course, dream about the future again,” she explained.
Earlier it became known that the European Commission will provide 40 million euros , which will be used for humanitarian assistance for Ukrainians.
