The European Union will continue to help Ukraine rebuild its energy infrastructure damaged by Russian shelling. The EU plans to allocate €920 million for this purpose before winter this year.
This was reported by Ukrinform, citing a statement by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
“Every winter, the Kremlin tried to freeze your people in order to subjugate them. It failed. It failed thanks to the extraordinary resilience of the Ukrainian people and because Europe was by your side, and it will continue to be so,” said the head of the European Commission.
She recalled that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the EU has been investing in the restoration of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
According to von der Leyen, this year the European Union will also allocate 920 million euros for these needs.
“This will ensure the uninterrupted operation of Ukraine’s energy system in difficult times. As we prepare for the next winter, our support continues. Just like last winter, we are helping to restore, repair and strengthen Ukraine’s energy infrastructure according to our plan. Whatever happens this winter, we will do everything possible to ensure that Ukrainians have light and warmth in their homes,” she emphasized.
The President of the European Commission also noted that Ukraine can continue to count on the support of the European Union.
It was previously reported that Ukraine and the European Union have launched a new partnership in the defense-industrial sector . The parties signed the Drone Deal , which is intended to strengthen cooperation in the production of drones and the development of defense technologies.
