The European Union will allocate 2 billion euros to the development of Ukrainian drone manufacturing. The relevant agreement has been reached between the EU leadership and Ukraine.

This was stated by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Ukrinform reports.

“We continue to consider Ukraine as our first line of defense. And this means the need to strengthen military support. We have agreed with the Ukrainian side that a total of 2 billion euros will be directed specifically to the production of drones,” the head of the European Commission emphasized.

According to her, these funds will help Ukraine expand the production of drones, use the full potential of its own defense industry, and also contribute to the deepening of military-technological cooperation with the EU.

In addition, von der Leyen emphasized that such cooperation will be mutually beneficial, as the European Union will gain access to modern Ukrainian technologies in the field of drones.

Recall that six NATO member states have financed four defense packages for Ukraine under the PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) initiative for a total amount of over 2 billion US dollars .

By the way, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, reported that a new branch of the Air Force is being formed – “Unmanned Air Defense Systems” . These are units armed with interceptor drones and reinforced with radar and electronic warfare systems, which have already shown high efficiency in the fight against Russian “shaheeds”.
