The European Commission commented on the situation surrounding Prosecutor General Kravchenko

The European Commission stated that it is aware of the recent events surrounding the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Ruslan Kravchenko. Brussels did not comment on the situation itself, but reminded Ukraine of the fight against corruption and the independence of anti-corruption bodies.
This was announced by European Commission spokesman Guillaume Mercier during a briefing in Brussels.
“We are indeed aware of the latest developments. But, as you know, we do not comment on individual cases,” he said.
At the same time, Mercier emphasized that the EU adheres to zero tolerance for corruption. For Ukraine, combating it remains one of the key conditions on the path to joining the European Union.
According to him, it is not only about investigating corruption crimes and punishing the guilty, but also about preventing them and upholding the rule of law.
Separately, the representative of the European Commission emphasized the independence of Ukrainian anti-corruption bodies.
“Independent anti-corruption bodies are the cornerstone of the rule of law in Ukraine. As a future member state, Ukraine must guarantee their protection and they must be able to properly carry out their work,” Mercier said.
He was also asked how the EU perceives the emergence of a number of high-profile corruption cases in Ukraine.
Mercier noted that the investigation of high-level cases also shows that anti-corruption authorities in Ukraine are working and have the ability to investigate such cases.
We will remind, on September 14, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko announced that he had signed a notice of suspicion against NABU Director Semen Kryvonos .
After that, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed to the Verkhovna Rada with a request to immediately support the resignation of Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko.
The Anti-Corruption Center announced that Kravchenko had left Ukraine . He himself explained his stay outside Ukraine by a business trip.
It later became known that Kravchenko went on a five-day business trip to Paris . The purpose of the trip was stated to be participation in a hearing of the PACE parliamentary network.
