Ambassadors of the European Union countries agreed on a loan for Ukraine in the amount of 90 billion euros and approved the 20th package of sanctions against Russia.

A spokesman for the Cyprus presidency of the European Council clarified that the parties have already launched a written procedure for the final adoption of a decision.

This procedure should be completed on the afternoon of April 23. Representatives of the EU states will sign documents on the allocation of credit to Ukraine and the introduction of sanctions.

Meanwhile, an informal summit of EU leaders will be held in Cyprus on April 23-24. Participants will discuss support for Ukraine, as well as international security issues, including the situation in the Middle East, Iran, and related energy risks for Europe.

As previously reported, the European Union and Hungary are continuing negotiations on unblocking funding for Ukraine, which amounts to 90 billion euros. The Hungarian side links its decision to the resumption of Russian oil supplies through the Druzhba pipeline.

As a reminder, on Thursday, March 19, a summit of EU leaders was held in Brussels, where one of the key issues was financial support for Ukraine , in particular the possible unlocking of a 90 billion euro aid package.
