The European Union expanded sanctions against Russia over the shelling of Kyiv: who was on the list

The European Union on Friday, August 7, approved new sanctions against Russia in response to its intensified attacks on Ukraine.

This was announced by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaia Kallas.

“In response to the recent series of Russian airstrikes, the EU today adopted new sanctions lists targeting five individuals involved in Russia’s military-industrial complex,” Kallas said.

She noted that Russia is stepping up attacks on civilians against the backdrop of the situation on the battlefield.

“With its army stuck on the battlefield, Moscow is further intensifying its campaign of terror against civilians. The EU must continue to increase pressure on Russia until Moscow ends the war,” Kaia Kallas wrote.

Recall that on the night of August 5, Russian troops carried out a combined missile and drone attack on Kyiv . It later became known that 17 people were killed and 44 injured in Kyiv and the Kyiv region as a result of the massive Russian strike on the night of August 5.

By the way, the Council of the European Union has imposed sanctions against 1 individual and 5 legal entities associated with the Russian military-industrial complex. The restrictions are related to the massive strikes on Kyiv on the night of July 1 and 5 , which led to casualties and the destruction of civilian infrastructure.
