The European Union plans to cover part of Ukraine’s additional financial needs of €70 billion, requested by President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to the assessment of European Council President Antonio Costa, the EU can provide about €46.7 billion, or two-thirds of the requested amount.
This is reported by the Rapporteur .
According to Koshta, during the last meeting of the European Council, the leaders agreed to provide for Ukraine’s additional financial needs and instructed the European Commission to prepare specific solutions.
Kosta expects that agreements on the allocation of funds can be reached at the meeting on November 26–27. If this is not possible, the issue is planned to be considered during the meeting on December 17–18.
At the same time, the President of the European Council noted that the European Union will probably be able to cover only two-thirds of the amount requested by Ukraine — about 46.7 billion euros.
Recall that Finland will allocate 2 million euros for humanitarian aid to Ukraine . The funds will be used to provide food to residents of frontline areas, support displaced people, and prepare for winter.
It was previously reported that the Netherlands will allocate 26.5 million euros for the reconstruction and development of Ukraine in 2027. The funds are provided within the framework of the Ukraine Partnership Facility (UPF) program, which will be extended next year.
