The “expertise” that the government fabricated against Poroshenko repeats the Russian thesis that the war began because of changes to the Constitution and Ukraine’s course towards NATO
The authorities have fabricated a pseudo-expertise that accuses the fifth president and leader of European Solidarity Petro Poroshenko of starting the Russian invasion and discredits the changes to the Constitution on the course towards NATO.
The case is headed by DBR investigator Yablonsky, who persecuted participants in the Revolution of Dignity under Yanukovych and now heads the department for Maidan affairs.
As reported by the lawyers of the fifth President, the so-called “expertise” was carried out by specialists in fire safety, intellectual law and explosive engineering. In particular, these experts conclude that the introduction of the course for membership in the EU and NATO into the Constitution of Ukraine in 2019 influenced the beginning of a full-scale invasion by Russia. As is known, this repeats the theses of Russian propaganda about the reasons for the war against Ukraine.
“In this ‘expert study’ they concluded that the changes to the Constitution of Ukraine, which approved Ukraine’s strategic course towards membership in NATO, towards changing the non-aligned status that it had before, towards European integration, towards membership in the EU, are illegal and harmful to Ukraine,” the lawyer noted.
“This is not the first time that the DBR has tried to integrate pro-Russian positions that the course towards NATO was harmful, our Constitution is illegal. Although this is absurd. This is what the aggressor state is forcing on us, neutrality and deprivation of prospects for NATO membership. I will not be surprised that this examination and these decisions of the DBR and personally of investigator Yablonsky, as has already happened, will be cited by some characters like Lavrov,” says Golovan.

As lawyer Ilya Novikov explained, such “pseudo-expertise” with a pre-planned conclusion is a Russian technology. And this “expertise” was organized during the life of Andriy Portnov, who was the architect of the persecution of Petro Poroshenko. The “expertise” was completed in June of this year, when Portnov was already shot in Madrid. But it began in February. They have a loaded scheme, according to which this case will go to court. Probably, Portnov’s death broke this system a little. But the fact that this expert examination was not afraid to bring to court and was not afraid to expose it means that Portnov’s case lives on,” Novikov said.
“While everyone is concerned about the war, while you and I are thinking about a ceasefire, these people who are doing these things are thinking about something else,” Novikov said.

“I was shocked by the fact that now the Constitutional Court is not the one conducting the examination of the Constitution, but rather experts in explosions and fire protection. It is absolutely obvious that this is a political case against the opposition leader, against the opposition,” said Irina Gerashchenko, co-chair of the European Solidarity faction.
“The only security umbrella for Ukraine is NATO membership, and this right is determined by the Ukrainian parliament, the Ukrainian president, who submitted these legislative changes to the parliament, voted for them by a constitutional majority, and Poroshenko signed them. This is to stop revenge in 2019,” Gerashchenko noted.
Why is this happening now? Perhaps the country is being prepared for the fact that it will have to abandon NATO, and it is necessary to look for the guilty. But in our country Poroshenko is always to blame for everything,” the deputy notes.
“Now they tell us that the full-scale war began not because of Russian aggression, but because Ukraine threatened Russia that it could become a member of NATO? NATO will soon be to blame for the fact that Russians are killing Ukrainians in Ukraine every day,” Gerashchenko was indignant.
“I want to remind you that the war began when we had neutrality, in 2014, and in 2019, when we had a strong army, Putin did not dare to attack and only watched when Ukraine would weaken. Therefore, my appeal to the authorities is that there is no need to weaken Ukraine with internal squabbles. Stop engaging in nonsense. Stop engaging in political affairs, engage in strengthening the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the unity of Ukraine,” Iryna Gerashchenko urged.
