The family of a soldier released from captivity should not return payments – Ministry of Defense
The Ministry of Defense reported that the family of Ukrainian soldier Nazar Daletsky, released from Russian captivity, should not return the payments received to the state.
This is stated in the official statement of the department.
As noted, the Ministry of Defense has no reason to review the decision to pay the funds, and does not intend to encourage their return to the state.
“For the Ministry of Defense, the absolute priority is to protect the rights of servicemen and their families. The return of the defender, who was previously considered dead, is an extremely important event for his relatives and for the entire country,” the ministry’s press service explained.
It is noted that for the Ministry of Defense, it is unacceptable to cause additional trauma to a family that has experienced difficult circumstances.
Earlier, the representative of the Ombudsman in the Lviv region, Taras Podvirny, reported thatthe family of soldier Nazar Daletsky, who was considered dead in 2023 and buried in the Lviv region, will be obliged to return state payments after his return from Russian captivity.
Subsequently, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Dmytro Lubinets, stated that no decisions have yet been made regarding the return of payments by the family of the released soldier Nazar Daletsky.
