The first autumn frost hit the Carpathians

On the peak of Pip Ivan Chornohirsky, in the Ukrainian Carpathians, -2°C was recorded on the morning of September 18.

This was reported by mountain rescuers of the Carpathian region.

According to their data, at 08:00 the mountain was cloudy, foggy, and the wind was blowing from the northwest at a speed of up to 8 m/s. This weather creates a real winter feeling — even though it’s still September on the calendar.

Pip Ivan Chornohirskyi is one of the highest peaks of the Ukrainian Carpathians, located on the border of Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattia regions. It is also known as the “White Elephant” because of the former observatory located on its summit.

As reported, cool and rainy weather will remain in Ukraine on September 17–18, but temperatures will start to rise by the end of the week . Sunny and summer-like warm air is expected in many regions over the weekend — up to +27 degrees.
