The first losers of the 2026 World Cup: Türkiye and Haiti are eliminated

The 2026 World Cup has seen its first guaranteed eliminations: Turkey in Group D and Haiti in Group C.

Before the 2026 World Cup, Haiti was expected to fail to advance past its group stage. Turkey, however, was certainly expected to be better. However, after Turkey’s unexpected 0-1 defeat to Paraguay, the Janissaries now have zero points. Turkey’s next match against the United States will be purely a formality, but the Americans may well want to win every match in the group stage.

The Americans have already won two matches and secured first place in Group D. In the second round, they defeated the Australians 2-0.

Second place in the third round will be played between Australia and Paraguay.

There were no surprises in Group C. Morocco narrowly defeated Scotland 1-0, while Brazil crushed Haiti 3-0. But heading into the third round, three teams have the opportunity to battle for first and second place. Third place could also be a ticket to the playoffs.

Two matches are scheduled for Saturday, June 20: the Netherlands vs. Sweden and Germany vs. Ivory Coast. Kickoffs are at 8:00 PM and 11:00 PM Kyiv time, respectively.
