One of the companies participating in the government project to involve the private sector in the air defense system has prepared its own air defense group, which is already operating in the Kharkiv region.
This was stated by Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov.
According to him, the relevant group already has some results. To date, several Russian Shahed and Zala drones have been shot down.
In addition, training of new air defense groups is currently underway at 13 more enterprises. All of them are at different stages of preparation: from training to performing combat missions.
“Private air defense is integrated into the unified control system of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and is already working in it – protecting facilities and participating in the Shahed interception. This is a systemic solution that allows you to quickly scale air defense capabilities without additional burden on front-line units. We have created a model where the state, the military and business work as a single system,” explained Fedorov.
The minister stressed that the state seeks to create a multi-level air defense system to effectively repel enemy air attacks. At the same time, the creation of private air defense groups will allow for a faster response to strikes and the protection of more objects.
“We are opening the air defense market, creating competition: businesses and companies can develop private air defense and protect their own infrastructure. Private groups receive weapons, operate under the coordination of the Air Force and become part of the overall architecture of sky defense,” the head of the Ministry of Defense added.
Recall that on the night of March 30, the Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine with an Iskander-M ballistic missile and drones of various types . Ukrainian air defense shot down/suppressed 150 enemy UAVs.
