The first session of negotiations between the Ukrainian and American delegations has concluded in Geneva, during which the parties noted progress in working on joint peace proposals. Representatives of Ukraine and the United States stated that the process will continue and be supplemented with new agreed provisions.

This was announced by the head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak.

According to him, the first part of the negotiations in Geneva was productive. According to him, the Ukrainian delegation held a productive meeting with American representatives and was able to move forward in preparing joint decisions on the future peaceful settlement.

“We had a very productive first meeting with the esteemed American delegation. We have made very good progress and are moving forward towards a just and lasting peace,” said Andriy Yermak.

He emphasized that the Ukrainian people desire and deserve peace, and thanked the United States and President Donald Trump for their support.

“We sincerely thank our great friends — the United States, personally President Trump and his team — for their dedication to the cause of peace,” said Andriy Yermak.

Yermak also noted that a second meeting within the framework of the negotiations is planned for the day, which will be held with the involvement of European partners. The final decisions will be made by the presidents of the two states.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, commenting on the conclusion of the talks on Sunday, said that changes would be made to the parties’ peace proposals. According to him, the meeting was one of the most productive in the current process of preparing the document.

“We have a very good working version that has already been created based on proposals from all relevant parties, and we have been able to now address some of these issues, point by point. And I think we have made significant progress,” said Marco Rubio.

The State Secretary clarified that the delegations are working on new proposals received from the participants in the process.

“So we’re working on it, making some changes in hopes of further narrowing the differences and getting closer to something that will be acceptable to both Ukraine and, obviously, the United States,” Marco Rubio said.

By the way, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council and member of the Ukrainian delegation at the peace talks Rustem Umerov stated that the agreement on the peace document with the United States is in the final stage . According to him, the document already contains the main Ukrainian priorities.

As is known, on Sunday, November 23, negotiations between the US, Ukraine, and the EU regarding Donald Trump’s new “peace plan” will be held in Geneva (Switzerland). The purpose of the meeting is to agree on wording for the upcoming meeting of the presidents of Ukraine and the US.

A group of Western leaders released a joint statement on the initial draft of the US peace plan for Ukraine on Tuesday. They stressed that the document could serve as a basis for work, but needed to be refined.

Earlier, key provisions of the draft US “peace plan” , allegedly agreed upon by representatives of Donald Trump and the Kremlin, became known. The document contains 28 points relating to the security, territories, economy and political future of Ukraine.
