The first underground kindergarten was opened in Zaporizhia: the institution is designed for 115 children
The first underground kindergarten, designed for 115 children, opened in Zaporizhia on September 3. The institution was visited by the German Ambassador to Ukraine, Boris Ruge.
This was announced by the co-chairman of the Defense Council of the Zaporizhia region, Ivan Fedorov.
According to Fedorov, during the visit, Boris Ruge also visited critical infrastructure facilities and got acquainted with the work of an underground kindergarten, which was built in 8 months.
The German Ambassador noted the results of joint work in the field of reconstruction and education and emphasized that Germany will continue to support Ukraine as a strategic partner.
After the facility opens, 115 children will be able to study, rest, and eat during the day in a safe space, the Prime Minister noted.
A separate radiation shelter with an area of over 900 m² is designed for 140 people. It is also accessible for children with special educational needs.
“Together with local authorities, we are working to create conditions for a safe educational process in the face of a constant Russian threat. First of all, in frontline cities and communities,” said Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky.
Let us remind you that the first underground kindergarten in Ukraine, “Mobile”, has been put into operation in the Pisochyn community of the Kharkiv region . The institution is designed for 260 children and allows for in-person educational activities even during air raids.
