The first US weapons are already in Ukraine: NATO confirmed the supply via PURL

Ukraine is receiving more and more military assistance from NATO partners. The new PURL program has already financed four weapons packages, two of which are already on their way to our country. This allows us to accelerate the supply of modern equipment and meet the urgent needs of the army.

This was reported by a NATO representative in response to a request from RBC-Ukraine .

“So far, four packages have been financed under the Priority Needs List of Ukraine (PURL). Some of the equipment from the first packages has already arrived in Ukraine, and even more is on the way,” he noted.

What is PURL?

The Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) program is a joint initiative between the United States and NATO aimed at accelerating the supply of weapons. Ukraine creates a list of the most important needs and transfers it to partners. Member countries finance the purchases, and the money goes to a special NATO account, after which the weapons are purchased directly from the United States.

Earlier, the administration of US President Donald Trumpapproved the first two packages of military aid for Ukraine , paid for by NATO.

The US House of Representatives has approved a defense budget for fiscal year 2025 in the amount of $892.6 billion. The document provides for increased funding for the Pentagon, increased military salaries and certain restrictions on social rights, as well as the allocation of $400 million for security programs in Ukraine .

Recall that Kyiv’s allies have already contributed $1.5 billion to NATO’s PURL initiative , thanks to which Kyiv receives American weapons.
