The “flag-waving” tactic: how Russians are dying for short videos

The Russian military at the front massively uses the tactic of quickly fixing their presence, sacrificing personnel for propaganda personnel. During assaults by the occupiers, they are specially issued tricolors so that they have time to film the content before being liquidated.

Serhiy Bratchuk, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army, described this method in detail on the air of “Pryamoy”, calling it an attempt to informationally reinforce any movements of the occupation troops against the background of geopolitical processes.

He noted that it is important for the invaders to demonstrate control over the territories, even if it is not militarily successful. During assaults, soldiers are given tricolors so that they have time to remove content before being eliminated. Bratchuk compared such actions to Soviet methods during World War II.

“Today, the Russians really give each of them this tricolor rag during assault operations in positions. Especially if it’s a location, say, a settlement, where you have to at least not establish yourself, but go in, take a picture, shoot a video,” explains the studio guest.

The spokesman cited the example of Kupyansk, where the Russians disguised themselves as civilians to create the illusion of capturing the city. At the same time, he mentioned the successes of the Ukrainian defenders, in particular the case of capturing the enemy with the help of a ground robotic complex. According to Bratchuk, Ukraine has learned to effectively resist this infiltration tactic, despite the significant numerical superiority of the enemy.

We will remind, recently the Russian General Staff announced the capture of Kupyansk-Vuzlovy in Kharkiv region. However, the Ukrainian military denied this information , calling it a fabrication. They emphasized that the occupation of the settlement by the enemy is not true. Moreover, Kupyansk-Vuzlovy is not located directly on the line of combat contact.

By the way, in January, a pair of suicides of two Russian soldiers was recorded. As military observer Oleksandr Kovalenko notes, this is a rather rare phenomenon when the occupiers simultaneously commit a group suicide in the frame.
