Foreign Minister Andrei Sybiha stated that Belarusian opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya may visit Ukraine in the near future.
He stated this during an online briefing with journalists, reports a Hromadske correspondent.
Amid statements by self-proclaimed Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko about his readiness to meet with President Vladimir Zelensky “anywhere” in Ukraine or Belarus, Sybiga stated that “the Ukrainian side has someone to meet with.”
“There have been no diplomatic contacts with Belarus recently. We recently saw Lukashenko’s strange statement that he was ready to meet and travel to Kyiv. The Ukrainian side has people to meet with,” says Sybiga.
He announced that Belarusian opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, who was sentenced in absentia to 15 years in prison in Belarus, may soon arrive in Ukraine.
