Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgiy Tykhyi stated that there is currently no threat of the plague spreading from Russia to Ukraine.

He announced this at a briefing.

“Fortunately, we don’t have any passenger traffic from that country. But we’re seeing how neighboring countries are reacting by closing their borders,” Tikhiy said.

According to him, Ukrainian authorities and the healthcare system are monitoring the epidemiological situation in Russia.

Tikhiy also criticized the actions of the Russian authorities, saying they are repeating the approaches of the Soviet regime.

“Who could allow the plague to spread in the 21st century? This simply shows how deeply the country’s governance is in crisis, how they don’t know how to ensure such basic epidemiological measures,” the Foreign Ministry representative added.

As a reminder, Russia previously reported a possible plague outbreak following the death of a worker at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Institute . Meanwhile, Rospotrebnadzor stated that no plague pathogen was detected in the deceased’s biomaterials.

Furthermore, the United States has already responded to reports of a possible plague in Russia . The American side stated that it was closely monitoring the situation, while Russian authorities called for more information.

Trump also previously stated that the United States is ready to help Russia if necessary.
