The French Navy, supported by intelligence provided by the UK, intercepted a tanker belonging to the Russian shadow fleet in the Mediterranean Sea.

French President Emmanuel Macron announced this.

According to the French Navy, the Grinch flies the flag of another country but is subject to sanctions. The French Navy is escorting the tanker to port for a detailed inspection.

Macron noted that the operation was carried out on the high seas with the participation of several French allies and in compliance with international law.
