Ukrainian troops have stopped the advance of the invaders in the Sumy region. The enemy’s “summer offensive” from Russian territory has stalled.
This was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky.
“Defense of the Sumy region is one of the main tasks today. Based on the results of May-June, we can state that this year’s wave of attempts at a “summer offensive” by the enemy from the territory of the Russian Federation is being choked, just like last year’s attempt at offensive actions by the enemy in the Kharkiv region,” Syrsky noted.
He noted that the advance of Russian troops in the Sumy region has been stopped, and the line of combat contact has been stabilized.
Syrsky added that in certain areas, SOU units are successfully using active defense tactics and liberating Ukrainian land in the border areas of Sumy region.
“In the North-Slobozhansk and Kursk directions, we have re-chained about 50 thousand personnel of the Russian Armed Forces, including elite brigades of their Airborne Forces and Marine Corps,” the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine added.
Syrsky also emphasized that the offensive actions of the Defense Forces in the Glushkov district of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation forced the occupiers to transfer part of their troops to defend their territory.
“This significantly reduced the offensive capabilities of the main group of enemy troops in the Sumy direction,” he added.
Earlier, the State Border Service of Ukraine reported that Russian occupation troops are not abandoning attempts to seize the Sumy region, but the number of such assaults has decreased .
