The General Staff confirmed the strike on the refinery more than 1,500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border
On the night of August 21, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck two important facilities on Russian territory – the Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez oil refinery in Perm and the Marynovka airfield in the Volgograd region.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the military, a fire broke out at the Perm refinery after the attack. The enterprise is located more than 1,500 kilometers from the state border of Ukraine.
“On the night of August 21, 2026, units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine damaged the Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez oil refinery in Perm, Perm Krai, Russia. A fire was recorded on the territory of the enterprise,” the report says.
Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez is one of the largest oil refineries in Russia. Its design capacity exceeds 13 million tons of oil per year. The plant produces over 60 types of products and, according to the General Staff, is involved in meeting the needs of the Russian army.
In addition, Ukrainian military forces struck the Marynivka airfield in the Volgograd region of the Russian Federation. Details of the consequences of the strike are currently being clarified.
The General Staff noted that the assessment of the damage is ongoing, and work on key military and military-economic facilities of the enemy continues.
As a reminder, explosions were heard in Perm, Russia, during a drone attack on the morning of August 21. According to local residents, thick smoke rose above the Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez oil refinery after the explosions.
