The General Staff confirmed the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ strikes on an oil refinery in Russia

The Ukrainian Defense Forces have launched a series of targeted strikes on important targets in Russia, inflicting significant damage to the infrastructure supporting the aggression against Ukraine.

This was reported by the press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In particular, the Afipsky oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai, which processes about 6.25 million tons of oil annually – approximately 2.1% of Russia’s total oil refining – was confirmed to have been hit. As a result of the drone strike, a large-scale fire broke out at the plant, engulfing a technological unit for processing gas and gas condensate.

The strike was carried out by units of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine together with the Unmanned Systems Forces. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, this is only part of a comprehensive operation, during which other strategically important objects on the territory of Russia were also attacked. The results of these strikes are currently being clarified.

Such actions by the Defense Forces are aimed not only at weakening the enemy’s capabilities in ensuring military operations, but also at increasing pressure on the economic resources of the Russian Federation used for waging war.

Previously, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repeatedly struck critical facilities on the territory of the aggressor country, which caused significant disruptions in the supply of fuel and energy resources.

As a reminder, on the night of Thursday, August 7, several regions of Russia were subjected to air attacks using drones. Critical facilities were targeted – railway infrastructure, an oil refinery, and military facilities.
