President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the Ukrainian government has earmarked additional funds to strengthen the protection of energy infrastructure in frontline regions.
He wrote about this following a meeting with Prime Minister Yulia Svirydenko.
The Cabinet of Ministers has allocated 1.5 billion hryvnias to protect energy facilities located near the front line.
“A reserve of equipment has been created for the prompt restoration of energy supply, and we plan to expand this reserve,” President Zelenskyy noted.
Additionally, Zelenskyy and Svyrydenko discussed the situation in the gas sector, including increasing gas reserves and ensuring supply for households. The government plans to soon adopt a resolution establishing a fixed price for natural gas for residential consumers.
The president also highlighted that a moratorium has been introduced on disconnecting consumers in frontline communities from energy supply.
“Despite all the challenges, we must support the communities facing the greatest difficulties right now,” he concluded.
As a reminder, on October 6, the Russian army struck energy system facilities in the Donetsk region, as a result of which some settlements were left without electricity.
By the way, within two days, the Russian occupiers destroyed two transformer substations that provided Kharkiv with electricity.
Earlier, as a result of Russian shelling, Konotop in Sumy Oblast was left without electricity and water supply.
