The Cabinet of Ministers has approved an action plan for 2027–2030, which envisages the further introduction of corporate sustainability reporting in Ukraine in accordance with European Union standards. The document sets out the main tasks, deadlines for their implementation, and those responsible for implementation.
This was reported by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.
The new operational plan continues the implementation of the Strategy for the Introduction of Sustainable Development Reporting, which the government approved in October 2024. Its goal is to gradually bring Ukrainian legislation into line with European requirements for corporate disclosure.
What will change for businesses?
One of the key areas of work for 2027–2030 will be the creation of a regulatory framework for the application of the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). It is also planned to introduce a single electronic format for submitting such reports.
In addition, the government has identified several areas for further work:
-
-
establishing requirements for the submission and publication of sustainability reporting;
-
-
-
updating the rules of auditing activities, in particular regarding verification of the reliability of such reports;
-
-
-
strengthening control over the quality of audit services in this area;
-
-
-
preparing enterprises to comply with new reporting requirements
-
The European ESRS standards require companies to disclose information about how their activities impact the environment and society. At the same time, companies must assess and highlight how environmental, social and governance factors can affect their development, financial performance and economic condition.
What results are expected from innovations?
The implementation of the approved plan should bring Ukrainian corporate reporting rules closer to EU legislation and ensure access to reliable and objective information about the activities of enterprises.
In addition, the introduction of European standards should create more equal conditions for Ukrainian businesses to compete in international capital markets and simplify the attraction of foreign investment.
It was previously reported that the government is proposing to change the rules for business operations during the yellow air alert level. Entrepreneurs are planned to be given more time to set up shelters and be allowed to use nearby protective structures.
