The Cabinet of Ministers has launched a pilot project of social support for Ukrainian educators “Money Follows the Teacher”, which involves the state accruing funds for teachers.
This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svirydenko.
She explained that this way, each teacher will be able to decide how to develop and where to study.
The state will credit 1,500 hryvnias to a virtual account, which education workers will use for training courses that meet their needs and professional plans.
According to Svyrydenko, the entire process will take place on a state digital platform.
As noted, participants in the pilot can be principals, deputies, and teachers working with grades 7–9 of the National Secondary School, as well as 10 pilot classes of a senior specialized school.
Training will start at the beginning of the new year.
“This is part of a joint program of the Ministry of Education and Science and the World Bank. I am grateful to the partners for supporting Ukrainian education and for their faith in our teachers — those who shape the future of the country every day,” the official concluded.
As a reminder, the government plans to increase payments for teachers working in frontline communities . From now on, 25,000 teachers in nine regions will receive a monthly supplement of UAH 4,000 after taxes.
