The government has revised its spending due to a lack of funds: what will be financed first?

The government has decided to postpone some construction, renovation, and landscaping costs due to the difficult situation with state finances. The money will primarily be directed to defense, pensions, social benefits, and salaries for state employees.

This was announced by Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky.

According to him, Ukraine has not yet received part of the international funding it was counting on. In particular, this happened because the country did not have time to fulfill some of the agreements with international partners.

Due to a lack of funds, the government decided to review public spending and determine what the money would be spent on first.

The state will primarily finance defense, pensions, and social benefits. There should also be money for salaries for teachers, doctors, and other public sector employees.

But expenses that can be avoided now will be postponed. These include new construction, reconstruction, and major repairs, unless they are of critical importance.

Also, state money will not be spent on some of the improvement projects – parks, squares, fountains, and paving stones – for the time being.

Koretsky noted that these projects are not being canceled forever, but now funds are needed for more urgent needs.

The Prime Minister also called on local authorities to review their spending and postpone what can wait.

In parallel, the government and parliament are working to fulfill the conditions of international partners so that Ukraine receives the planned funding.
