The government is preparing a new pension reform: what is known

Ukraine plans to change the pension accrual system. Instead of the current model, they want to divide payments into two parts – basic and insurance.

This was reported by People’s Deputy Olga Vasilevska-Smaglyuk.

According to her, the basic part of the pension will be paid by the state. The insurance part will depend on the length of service and contributions paid.

The government also proposes to establish a guaranteed minimum level of pensions and reduce the gap between the lowest and highest payments.

The authors of the reform believe that the current system works unfairly. Due to different retirement times, people with the same salary and length of service can receive different amounts. In addition, a few years after the payment is assigned, it noticeably loses its value.

During the preparation of the reform, the future of special pensions is also being discussed. It is proposed that they be gradually transferred to occupational pension programs.

The issues of a single social contribution and voluntary pension savings are considered separately.

The draft law on reform is planned to be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada by the fall of 2026.
