The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted new rules that allow female deputies of local councils working on a voluntary basis to cross the state border during martial law.

This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svirydenko on her Telegram channel.

According to her statement, the innovation eliminates restrictions that have long prevented female deputies from traveling even on legal leave — for example, to see loved ones or deliver humanitarian aid to Ukrainian military personnel.

“This created obstacles to volunteer activities and sometimes forced women to resign,” Svyrydenko explained.

The new rules apply only to those deputies who do not receive a salary for their work in local government bodies — that is, they work exclusively on a volunteer basis. For officials and employees of local government bodies who receive a salary, the restrictions remain in force.

The Prime Minister noted that in this way the government seeks to support the activity of women in the political life of communities and enable them to fully fulfill their duties – including in the international dimension.

As a reminder, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced that the Cabinet of Ministers has adopted a resolution that allows Ukrainian men aged 18 to 22 to cross the state border without hindrance, even during martial law.

As reported, men aged 18 to 22 will need to have a military registration document to travel abroad.
