Ukraine is preparing the next stage of a major “1000 for 1000” prisoner exchange with Russia, with new lists expected to include soldiers held in captivity since 2022, as well as women prisoners, the seriously wounded, and seriously ill detainees.
This was announced during a press conference by Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Hromadske reports.

According to him, work on the new phase of the exchange is ongoing, and details will be made public after final approval.

“There are different categories of prisoners in Russian captivity—these are those who have been there since 2022, as well as female prisoners, seriously ill, seriously wounded prisoners, and representatives of various directions and units,” said Yusov.

He also confirmed that the upcoming exchange could be “mixed,” meaning it could include different categories of Ukrainian prisoners.

The GUR emphasizes that the process of returning Ukrainians from Russian captivity remains complex and requires constant negotiations. At the same time, the Ukrainian side continues to work to ensure that both military and civilians return home.

Separately, Yusov commented on Russia’s new threats regarding possible massive strikes on Kyiv. According to him, such statements are part of information pressure.

“An information campaign is underway,” said a representative of the GUR.

He emphasized that missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities have been ongoing since the beginning of the full-scale war, so such threats are nothing new for Ukrainians.

“Massive combined strikes have been used by the enemy since the beginning of the invasion,” Yusov emphasized.
