Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger said that Ukrainian drones lacked a technological breakthrough and compared their production to “playing Lego.” Rheinmetall then issued a statement expressing respect for Ukraine’s innovation and war efforts.
This was reported by Rheinmetall .
Armin Papperger disparaged the level of Ukrainian drones, saying that their production cannot be compared to the technologies of large Western defense concerns. According to him, the process of creating drones is too simple.
“It’s like playing with Lego. What’s innovative about Ukraine? They don’t have any technological breakthrough,” he said.
In addition, he called drone manufacturers “Ukrainian housewives,” who, according to him, use 3D printers to manufacture parts.
After these statements, Ukrainian drone manufacturers responded, noting that now is the “era of housewives” if such technologies demonstrate results on the battlefield.
Rheinmetall subsequently published a statement emphasizing respect for Ukraine and its citizens in the context of the war.
“We deeply respect the tremendous efforts of the Ukrainian people to defend themselves against Russian attack, which have been ongoing for over 4 years,” the company noted.
Rheinmetall added that every citizen of Ukraine contributes to the defense of the state, and the effectiveness of actions in conditions of limited resources commands respect.
“The innovative strength and fighting spirit of the Ukrainian people inspire us. We are grateful for the opportunity to provide support using the resources at our disposal,” the company concluded.
Recall that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has codified and approved for operation the JEDI Shahed Hunter unmanned aerial vehicle complex . The new interceptor drones are already being used to destroy enemy drones.
By the way, the German government will allocate funds to finance the production of 15,000 modern Ukrainian STRILA interceptor drones.
Earlier, Zelenskyy said that Ukraine has already reached the level of production of about a thousand interceptor drones per day to counter Russian attacks.
