The head of the Transcarpathian Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support has been removed from his position. Previously, the Ombudsman’s Office recorded possible human rights violations and corruption risks in the center’s work.
This was reported by the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Dmytro Lubinets.
According to the Ombudsman, his office has repeatedly recorded possible human rights violations and corruption risks related to the activities of the head of the Transcarpathian OTCC and SP. Representatives of the Ombudsman’s Office have reported publicly on the identified problems, as well as sent official appeals to the relevant authorities.
Lubinets claims that instead of eliminating the identified problems, there were attempts to counteract those who reported them. In particular, he stated about information pressure, attempts to silence the facts, and intentions to initiate criminal proceedings against employees of his office.
The Ombudsman stressed that the situation goes beyond the issue of the activities of one official. According to him, the prolonged lack of an adequate response to systemic violations can create a feeling of impunity.
Lubinets also stated that the former leadership of the Ministry of Defense should have responded earlier to problems in the CCC and SP system.
Currently, a personnel decision has been made regarding the head of the Transcarpathian OTCC and the Joint Venture – he has been removed from his position.
Lubinets thanked the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatom for his reaction. The Ombudsman emphasized that after identifying violations, the responsible authorities should take specific measures, and not keep quiet about the problems.
