The Holy Fire descended in Jerusalem

On April 11, on the eve of the feast of the Resurrection of Christ, the Holy Fire descended in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem.

This became known from the video broadcast of the solemn ceremony.

At around 2:20 p.m., His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem emerged from the Kuvukliya of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, a chapel with a cave where, according to tradition, Jesus Christ was buried. He held candles with fire in his hands.

This was preceded by prayers for peace and blessings for humanity.

It is believed that the Holy Fire appears in a miraculous way. It symbolizes the victory of life over death. Believers are convinced that if the fire does not come down, the end of the world will soon come.

Traditionally, after the fire ascends, the Patriarch lights and takes out 33 candles. This number represents the number of years in the life of Jesus Christ.

The Holy Fire will be transferred to churches in different parts of the world, including Ukrainian ones.
