The illusion of success: Russians film and distribute fake videos of capturing settlements

The Russians are resorting to a new tactic to spread propaganda, filming fake videos of the capture of Ukrainian settlements.

This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate.

To create the illusion of success on the front, the enemy is sending small groups with Russian flags to bypass Ukrainian positions. Those who manage to reach populated areas are filming videos, supposedly confirming the occupation.

“Such videos are used for “victorious” reports to the Kremlin leadership and distributed in the media with the aim of putting pressure on Ukrainian society,” the GUR explained.

In particular, the day before, the Russians distributed a video about the occupation of the village of Andriyivka-Klevtsove. However, the Ukrainian Defense Forces denied the information about the capture of the settlement.
