The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has fully reinstated Russian athletes and allowed them to return to international competitions under national symbols.

This was reported by the ITTF press service.

The federation noted that this decision was made after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) lifted restrictions on the participation of Russian athletes in international competitions.

Previously, the ITTF reinstated athletes from Belarus, and now it has lifted all restrictions for representatives of Russia as well.

It is noted that Russian athletes will be allowed to participate in international table tennis competitions, including Paralympic tournaments, starting July 28, 2026. The decision applies to both individual and team competitions.

At the same time, the ITTF emphasized that the federation’s decision does not cancel possible restrictions related to the legislation of individual countries, visa regulations, sanction regimes, government requirements, security issues, anti-doping or disciplinary regulations, accreditation rules, or regulations of specific tournaments.

Furthermore, the decision does not apply to matters within the competence of the IOC or other bodies relating to the Olympic Games, including accreditation, quotas, use of the flag, anthem, national symbols, uniforms, status of delegations or conditions of participation.

“Along with this decision, the ITTF reaffirms its solidarity with the Ukrainian table tennis community and recognizes the profound impact that the ongoing war has had on Ukrainian athletes, coaches, officials, clubs and families. This decision does not diminish the ITTF’s support for Ukraine, nor its concern for those who continue to suffer from the conflict. The ITTF remains committed to supporting the table tennis community in Ukraine through various channels,” the federation said in a statement.

It was previously reported thatthe International Olympic Committee (IOC) has temporarily reinstated the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) . The ban on its activities was in effect from October 12, 2023.

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has also lifted all restrictions on Russian athletes. From now on, Russian representatives will be able to participate in official international competitions under the auspices of the organization.

At the same time, despite the IOC’s decision to temporarily lift the suspension of the Russian Olympic Committee and the recommendation to review restrictions on Russian athletes, sanctions against the Russian Federation in football remain in force.
