Russia has no intention of ending its war against Ukraine.
This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov at a briefing on July 4.
He commented on yesterday’s conversation between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, noting that Moscow is closely following the statements of the US President.
Peskov confirmed that during the conversation Putin repeated his intentions to achieve the goals of the war, preferably through political and diplomatic means, but while this is impossible, Russia continues its “special military operation.”
He also said that Putin told Trump that Moscow was expecting the dates for the third round of direct talks to be agreed upon.
The day before, US President Donald Trump held a conversation with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. The conversation lasted almost an hour. Kremlin media write that Trump raised the issue of ending the war as soon as possible. Putin noted that the Russian Federation will not retreat and will continue to eliminate the so-called root causes of the war.
Commenting on these negotiations, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed the opinion that Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin do not have many topics for discussion . At the same time, Zelensky had previously announced a conversation with the US President . The head of state also noted that negotiations with Putin himself are necessary to achieve peace.
Subsequently, US President Donald Trump said that he did not believe that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin intended to stop the war . “I am very disappointed in the conversation that I had with President Putin,” Trump said. He also said that he intended to have a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
