The Russian Ministry of Defense published a post on August 14 that can be seen as another threat to Ukraine and a hint at increased attacks in the winter. This primarily concerns drone strikes on civilian and energy infrastructure.
This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The Russian agency published a photo of strike drones with the caption “Like snow on your head.” The post also included the phrase: “You will be “frozen” in winter.”
The publication came amid calls from Ukraine to halt air strikes and strikes on energy facilities. The day before, Kyiv also proposed a freeze on hostilities along the entire front line.
In response, the Russian side actually demonstrated its unwillingness to give up attacks and continued its rhetoric of threats.
The head of the NSDC’s Center for Countering Disinformation, Andriy Kovalenko, responded to the statement of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
“There, the Russian Ministry of Defense posted a photo of a “shaheed” and promised a “freeze”. I could also post a piece of a photo of ballistics or some of our drone there and also write something like that. But why, if the Russian Ministry of Defense has already addressed the Russians in this way,” Kovalenko wrote.
According to him, this message is addressed not only to Ukrainians, but also to Russian citizens.
“All thanks to the Russian Ministry of Defense. The mirror always works. You reap what you sow,” he added.
The Central Military Commission emphasizes that such statements are part of information pressure and an attempt to intimidate the population against the backdrop of the ongoing war.
As a reminder, Russia may intensify attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure with the onset of the autumn-winter period. Not only generation and heat supply facilities, but also the gas transportation system and gas production enterprises may be under threat.
As reported, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has threatened to further intensify Russian actions against facilities that the Kremlin believes provide the Ukrainian army with Western support. Lavrov said that Russia intends to “destroy everything that fuels Kyiv’s military machine from the West.”
