Russia is likely preparing for a new massive shelling of Ukraine and may once again target energy and critical infrastructure. The Kremlin, as before, hopes to put pressure on the Ukrainians in this way.
This was stated by the former head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andriy Kovalenko.
According to him, Russia is “clearly preparing for a new shelling of Ukraine,” and the Russian leadership continues to rely on strikes on critical infrastructure.
“Putin still believes that he can break Ukrainians through interrupted light and heat,” Kovalenko noted.
He also drew a parallel with the Kremlin’s previous plans for Ukraine. In particular, Kovalenko recalled the Russian leadership’s calculation to capture Kyiv three days after the start of a full-scale invasion.
At the same time, according to him, the war is increasingly affecting the territory of Russia itself.
“I believed in ‘Kyiv in three days’. But it only brings more and more war to the territory of Russia,” Kovalenko concluded.
As a reminder, the representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Andriy Chernyak, stated that not only generation and heat supply facilities, but also the gas transportation system and gas production enterprises could be under threat.
