Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said that Russia would not agree to a “freezing” of the war without eliminating its alleged “causes.” He also criticized the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ strikes on Russian energy infrastructure and the US’s support for Ukraine.
This is reported by Russian media.
Galuzin stated that Russia’s position is based on previous statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“As Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly said, no ‘freeze’ is possible without eliminating the causes of this crisis,” said the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation.
Galuzin also expressed dissatisfaction with the strikes by the Ukrainian Defense Forces on Russia’s energy infrastructure.
“We hope that there will be an adequate reaction from the world community, in particular in the USA and European countries,” he said.
Separately, a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry called the US actions towards Ukraine “contradictory.” According to him, this is allegedly contradicted by the supply of American weapons to Ukraine, the transfer of intelligence data, and other assistance.
“The ongoing supply of American weapons to the Kyiv regime, the provision of intelligence data, and other assistance that is inconsistent with the pursuit of peace speak for themselves,” Galuzin said.
It was previously reported that the United States plans to intensify diplomatic efforts to resume talks between Ukraine and Russia in the coming weeks . At the same time, Washington acknowledges that the success of this initiative is not guaranteed due to the positions of the parties.
