The Kremlin is trying to use the topic of negotiations for manipulation on the international stage, proposing that the presidents meet exclusively in the Russian capital. Moreover, these statements have no real basis, but are aimed at disinformation of the Global South.
This opinion was expressed on the air of “Pryamoy” by Boryslav Bereza, a People’s Deputy of the eighth convocation.
“I’m currently monitoring the Brazilian press a little bit, because I’ve just focused on how Russian propaganda works there. It works very effectively. It works systematically through the leader of public opinion, through local journalists, through local “propagandists”. Putin, first of all, mocks Ukraine,” the former People’s Deputy noted.
According to Bereza, in Brazil or Pakistan, the media often broadcast Russian theses, creating the illusion of the dictator’s readiness for dialogue. In fact, a trip by a Ukrainian leader to an enemy capital would be a fatal mistake, given Moscow’s historical experience of treachery, he emphasizes.
The former MP recalled how, during the Hungarian events of the last century, the Russians lured the country’s leadership into negotiations and then arrested them, despite promises of security.
On the eve of the meeting, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that a meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and the Russian Federation is possible only in Moscow . According to him, the Russian side allegedly remains open to negotiations on the situation in Ukraine. In addition, the Russian dictator’s aide Yuri Ushakov said that the Russian Federation is allegedly ready to guarantee Zelensky’s safety if he comes to Moscow.
At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin previously did not rule out the possibility of a meeting with Zelensky and invited him to come to Moscow . At that time, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga called this proposal from the Kremlin dictator unacceptable .
