On Tuesday, July 1, explosions were heard in Izhevsk, Russia, at the Kupol electromechanical plant, which is a key manufacturer of Tor anti-aircraft missile systems and Harpy-A1 strike drones for the Russian military.
The drone attack was reported by Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
According to him, the explosions were the result of a drone attack on an enterprise that is of strategic importance to Russia’s defense complex.
At the same time, videos were distributed on the Internet, which recorded drone strikes on the territory of the plant.
Udmurt Prime Minister Alexander Brechalov confirmed that all emergency services in Izhevsk immediately went to the scene of the incident, but did not specifically name the facility where the explosion occurred. However, he clarified that “there are victims” and “fire centers.”
In addition, restrictions have been introduced at Izhevsk airport.
