The largest Indian refinery has refused oil from Russia: how will this affect imports of Russian raw materials?

Reliance Industries, which is the largest importer of Russian oil in India, announced the cessation of supplies of raw materials from Russia.
This was reported by Reuters.
The statement from the country’s largest oil refinery came amid threats by US President Donald Trump about the possibility of increasing import tariffs on India due to the purchase of Russian raw materials.
“Reliance Industries’ Jamnagar refinery has not received any Russian crude cargoes for the past approximately three weeks and does not expect any Russian crude oil deliveries in January,” the company said in a statement.
As noted, the halt in oil supplies to this refinery could significantly reduce imports of Russian oil to India within a month to the lowest level in recent years.
In addition, the company denied media reports that oil tankers carrying Russian Urals oil were heading to India’s largest oil refining complex, the Reliance refinery, located on the country’s west coast.
As reported late last month, Russian oil supplies to India in December could fall to their lowest levels in three years.
As a reminder, US lawmakers have introduced a bipartisan bill to the Senate that would impose sanctions on the purchase or facilitation of imports of oil and petroleum products from Russia.
