The last hospital in Konstantinovka, Donetsk region, has stopped working. The reason was the constant shelling of the city and the mass exodus of medical workers. This was reported by the director of the local multidisciplinary intensive care hospital Elena Rudenko in a commentary to “Public. Donbass”.
According to her, there are currently no anesthesiologists, traumatologists or surgeons in the city, so it is no longer possible to provide medical care.
Head of the surgical department Yuri Mishasty noted that since spring Russian troops have begun to target the hospital. As a result of the strikes, the windows in the building have been knocked out, and there is no electricity or water supply.
Rudenko emphasized that the hospital was the last medical institution operating in the city. An ambulance left Konstantinovka on August 12, and since then the evacuation of seriously ill patients has become virtually impossible.
“People stayed until the very end and did everything they could. But when there were explosions nearby, and even the State Emergency Service was withdrawn from the city, there was no one left to save them,” the director said.
By the way, in Konstantinovka, Donetsk region, gas distribution was stopped after the gas distribution station was damaged as a result of Russian shelling.
