The period from 2015 to 2025 was the hottest since official meteorological records began. The most anomalous year was 2024, when the global temperature exceeded pre-industrial levels by approximately 1.55°C.
This is stated in a report from the World Meteorological Organization , which is quoted by Reuters .
According to researchers, the most recent decade has been the warmest on record since systematic observations began in 1850. Meanwhile, 2025 was among the top three hottest years, with the average temperature then being 1.43°C above pre-industrial levels.
The report also notes that glacier mass loss in key regions is among the five worst on record, with the largest declines recorded in Iceland and North America .
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres stressed that the situation is critical.
“The global climate is in a state of emergency. Planet Earth is pushing beyond its limits. All key climate indicators are signaling danger,” he said.
