The majority of Ukrainians consume Russian-language content: the Ministry of Culture explained the reason.
In Ukraine, a significant portion of citizens continue to regularly consume Russian-language content—71% now, and almost a quarter do so every day.
Deputy Prime Minister of Culture Tatyana Berezhnaya reported this, citing the results of a study on media consumption.
Specifically, among teenagers, 59% watch or listen to Russian-language content at least once a month. At the same time, there’s a counter-trend: 51% of Ukrainians currently consume more Ukrainian-language content, and another 14% have partially switched to it over the past four years.
The Ministry of Culture attributes this situation not only to habit but also to a lack of alternatives. According to Berezhnaya, Ukrainians often choose content that is more accessible and more actively promoted by algorithms.
The agency emphasizes that the key objective is to increase the quantity of high-quality Ukrainian products that can compete for audience attention.
