The man accused of Irina Farion’s murder has gone on a hunger strike.

On March 24, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court in Lviv held another hearing in the Iryna Farion murder case. At the beginning of the hearing, defendant Vyacheslav Zinchenko announced he was going on a hunger strike.

According to Zinchenko, he began his hunger strike on the evening of March 23 due to the alleged disappearance of a wall bars that supporters had given him in the pretrial detention center. He noted that his cellmate, Mikhail Stselnikov, could confirm this.
Present during the hearing were prosecutor Dmitry Petlirovanny , the deceased’s daughter , Sofia Litso, along with lawyer Natalia Romanik , and the defendant’s defense attorney, Igor Sulima . Another lawyer, Vladimir Voronyak , filed a motion to hold the hearing without his participation due to his health.
Zinchenko stated that he has no complaints against the pretrial detention facility administration as a whole, but he is protesting the actions of a specific employee of the facility, Sergei Zver .
He said his hunger strike would continue until his sports equipment was returned or its cost was compensated.
As a reminder, on March 5, a trial was held in Lviv for the murder of linguist Iryna Farion, resulting in the suspect, Vyacheslav Zinchenko, being remanded in custody for another 60 days.
