In 2026, Ukraine plans to increase the minimum pension from UAH 2,361 to UAH 2,595. However, as analysts admit, even after the increase, this amount will remain several times less than the real subsistence minimum, which for a pensioner currently amounts to over UAH 7,000.

This is stated in the analytical material of NewsWeek.

The minimum pension will increase by UAH 234 — to UAH 2,595. The maximum pension will increase by UAH 2,340, because in Ukraine its size is limited to 10 subsistence minimums — except for judges and those who have had the restriction lifted through the court.

Let us remind you: in June 2025, the average pension in Ukraine was UAH 6,100. However, most pensioners receive significantly less:

Up to UAH 4,000 — over 3.6 million people (35.3%),

Up to 5,000 UAH — another 5.7 million (55.8%).

The comparison with the pensions of judges and individual civil servants is particularly striking:

The average pension for years of service is UAH 12,486.

Judges receive an average of over 109 thousand UAH per month.

For comparison: in 2020, the old-age pension was 3,400 UAH, and the long-service pension was 4,600 UAH. That is, then the difference was 1.35 times. Now it is almost twice as much.

As a reminder, the government assures that the issue of raising the retirement age is not currently being considered . However, some changes regarding pensions are still planned.
