Ukraine’s Air Defences Destroyed Thousands of Aerial Targets in June, Defence Ministry Says

Ukraine’s air defense forces intercepted nearly 89% of the missiles and drones launched by Russia during its large-scale aerial attacks in June, according to the Ministry of Defense, highlighting the continued effectiveness of the country’s air defense network.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

According to the department, during the month, the Russian army launched almost 6 thousand missiles and drones into Ukraine, of which Ukrainian air defense shot down almost 5.3 thousand.

In particular, about 90% of Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas attack drones were destroyed, as well as 90% of cruise missiles, including Caliber, Iskander-K, and Kh-101.

At the same time, the interception efficiency of ballistic missiles was 40%. This includes, in particular, missiles of the Iskander, Kinzhal, 48N6DM types and others.

The Ministry of Defense emphasized that ballistic missiles remain the biggest challenge for Ukrainian air defense. To intercept them, a sufficient number of PAC-3 missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems is needed.

The department also noted that Ukraine, together with international partners, continues to work to strengthen air defenses and called on allies to transfer interceptor missiles to protect critical infrastructure.

It was previously reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a series of talks during the NATO summit, dedicated, in particular, to strengthening the Ukrainian air defense system .
