The Ministry of Energy is preparing for new attacks on the energy system

Ukraine’s Energy Ministry is preparing for new Russian attacks on energy infrastructure and is calling on Ukrainian diplomatic missions abroad to become more involved in seeking funding and technical assistance.

Deputy Minister of Energy Roman Andarak stated this during an online meeting with representatives of diplomatic missions, the press service of the Ministry of Energy reported .

The official noted the large-scale destruction of infrastructure since the start of the full-scale invasion and the increase in shelling of oil and gas facilities, which creates additional risks for energy security.

“The rhetoric from the Russian Federation does not allow us to expect the attacks to stop. Therefore, the question arises about intensifying the efforts of Ukrainian diplomats. We have identified key areas that require priority funding and technical assistance,” Andarak emphasized.

According to him, the priority tasks are:

• protection and strengthening of energy facilities;

• repair and restoration of damaged equipment;

• formation of strategic reserves;

• purchase of the required equipment.

Earlier it became known that due to the Russian strike in Sumy, damage to infrastructure facilities and interruptions in electricity and water supplies were recorded .
